Manaakitanga Awards Week 8 Term 1

Punsari Sehasna Gunawardena (Pukaki Whānau)
Punsari, you are doing an amazing job with your Maths whizz. Consistently maxing out your time and getting 13-14 progressions a week. You set a good example for the others in class and really put the class on your back to carry us to the top spots each week. Kia kaha!

Dylan Naude (Tunohopu Whānau)
Dylan Naude. You are having a great term and bring a positive presence to our class. You model outstanding behaviour with consistency and pride. You are active in all our learning in and out of the class. Thank you for demonstrating strong values and setting a high level of expectation for your classmates.

Cole Filipo (Te Rangiiwaho Whānau)
Cole, you are starting your school journey by embracing our school motto, “Courage and Commitment". Our kaiako have noticed how you take the risk to step out of your comfort zone. Keep on grabbing every opportunities RIS has to offer you!

Caiden Yandell (Hurungaterangi Whānau)
Caiden, you have had such a wonderful start to the school year! It has been a joy to see you settle into our classroom whanau so happily. We are so proud of how your independence is growing every single day. You are showing everyone that you can be a super learner by making great choices and taking care of your work. Thank you for being such a kind, helpful, and reliable friend to everyone in our room. We are so very lucky to have you with us!

Kylani Mohi (Te Roro o Te Rangi Whānau)
Tēnā koe, Kylani. E tino pai ana tō mahi i te kura, ā, e mōhio ana koe ki te whakarite mō ngā akoranga i ngā wā katoa. You always come prepared for learning and show manaaki and tautoko to those around you. He tauira pai koe i ngā wā katoa, ā, e poho kererū ana au ki a koe.

Tiare Keepa (Taeotu Whānau / Pathways)
Tiare, you are an amazing person. Every time you come to Minecraft you are always focussed and ready to learn. You listen and follow instructions, and are trying new things to make your work look realistic. You are always polite and respectful to myself and to your peers. It is a privilege having you in Minecraft.

Deizah Le Comte-Thompson
Wow Deizah you have had an awesome start to Yr 8. You are achieving every goal you have set for yourself. Well done Deizah keep up the great work.

Tuia Crabb (Tunohopu Whānau)
Tuia you've been an absolute star this term in Hine Kaha. You’re always looking to improve yourself and finding ways to support others. You’re always leading by example by being organised and ready for your learning. Thank you for being an amazing member of Hine Kaha. Mahi tika ana - well done!

Rahel Kim (Te Rangiiwaho Whānau)
Rahel, thank you for being such a great role model in Te Rangiiwaho 2. You consistently show your 3R’s and take pride in everything you do. Your art work continues to amaze us - you have such talent here! The little things, like always staying on for a few minutes after the bell to wipe the tables, don’t go unnoticed and it’s an absolute pleasure to have you in our class.

Dravya Engineer (Hurungaterangi Whānau)
Dravya, it has been so phenomenal to see you being so curious in your own learning, while also being open to widening the world of those around you, especially when it comes to our ESOL students. The support you give to your peers so they feel welcome and supported in our classroom does not go unnoticed. We see you, we appreciate you, and we think you are just so awesome. Mairiki Marsters (Taeotu Whānau)
MUSIC EXPLORATION…Mairiki has followed her passion for playing the guitar, by being an integral member of her Music Pathways class, and is always willing to demonstrate her rapidly-expanding musical skills. She also attends after-school guitar lessons and has recently been selected as a member of the RIS Rock band for 2026! Tu Meke, Mairiki…you are a true rockstar in the making!

New Zealand Traveller Declaration

Are you going overseas for the school holidays?

When you return, you can now complete a digital New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) before you fly back into New Zealand – replacing the need to fill out a paper declaration card on the plane.

Everyone coming into New Zealand needs to complete an NZTD. You’ll answer questions about your trip and what’s in your bags. You can complete it at a time that suits you, on the NZTD website or by downloading the NZTD app, and submit it 24 hours before your trip back to New Zealand.
