CELEBRATING THE ARTS:

Rotorua Intermediate is excited to present our “TARAWERA” Wearable Arts show. All whānau are invited to come along and experience the beautiful designs created by our students, the historic story line, entertainment from our school band and dance crew “Solex”. So pop the 3rd September into your diary.

Science Roadshow 2026

We had an exciting visit from the Science Roadshow. We would like to acknowledge our 12 students from Te Rangiiwaho 3 who were our experts running different stations for our students, and those visiting from other schools.

It was a fun and interactive learning experience of science. It included live shows and hands-on exhibits.

The science concepts included:

Astronomy - Te Mātai arorangi
Fair Tests - Ngā whakamātau tika
Human Performance - Mahi tangata
Movement - Te nekeneke
Slight and illusion - Te kitenga me ngā kitenga mariko
Using Numbers - Te whakamahi tau

Super 11 Cross Country

Super 11 Cross Country was held recently in Tauranga. We had 8 students competing on the challenging Waipuna Park 3km course, racing against some of the top cross country runners in BOP/Poverty Bay.

Well done to Dante and Roni for finishing in the top 10 of their grades and all our competitors who recorded impressive times for a 3km run. Well done tauira.

CBOP Amazing Race

The CBOP Amazing Race was held on a beautiful Tuesday morning at the Rotorua Lakefront village green. We had nine teams racing against other CBOP schools to complete their amazing race passports within the allocated time. It was also a great opportunity for students to see the development happening around the Rotorua lakefront as they raced to finish their challenges.

Final results are still to come but we did have success in the 'guess how many lollies in the jar' challenge with team 6 guessing 133 and team 13 guessing 137. The actual number was 135 so both teams received a jar of lollies as their prize. No surprises we won that game.

We couldn't have had nine teams attend The Amazing Race without the help of our parents and support kaiako supervising teams on the day so a big thanks for all your support. Well done to all our amazing teams.

SAFER SCHOOL ROADS

From June, the speed limit outside our school will drop to 30km/h during busy drop-off and pick-up times (8:00–9:00am and 2:45–3:45pm). At other times, the normal speed limit will apply.

There will be a mix of electronic and static signs. As soon as the signs are installed, the lower speed limit can be enforced, so please keep an eye out.

Charlie Honore (Pukaki Whānau)
Charlie, you bring a smile with you to class everyday. The students in Pukaki 3 enjoy being in your presence. You are kind, helpful and considerate of those around you. Keep up the amazing work.

Taanvee Maharaj (Tunohopu Whānau)
Taanvee, you have made a great start to Term 3 and I am impressed with the effort you are putting into your learning. You are a kind and caring student, and you are always willing to help others. You have a great sense of humour and I love your positive attitude and your enthusiasm.

Kade Neal (Te Rangiiwaho Whānau)
You always have a positive attitude in class and put in effort to learn new concepts and skills. I love the way you help others and always have something positive to say. You are a great encouragement to your friends and are growing as a role model. Keep it up!

Rein Jackson (Hurungaterangi Whānau)
Rein, you have had an amazing start to your time at Rotorua Intermediate. You are kind, caring, fun, and charismatic, and you have already set an outstanding example for those around you. Your positive attitude, willingness to include others, and the way you approach every opportunity with enthusiasm make you a valued member of our class. Keep being your wonderful self—I can't wait to see all that you achieve this year!

Whaea would just like to acknowledge Ihimaira for continuously making good choices and staying on task all the time. E mihi ana ki a koe!

Leilah Roser (Taeotu Whānau / Pathways)
For the short time I have known you Leilah, your kind, positive, caring nature has shone through. You are always willing to help and often do things without asking. You are a positive role model to others in the class by consistently demonstrating our 3Rs. It’s a pleasure having you in Graphic Design this term.

You consistently demonstrate exceptional respect towards both kaiako and your peers, and your kindness and conscientious nature make you a pleasure to have in our class. New Zealand Traveller Declaration

Are you going overseas for the school holidays?

When you return, you can now complete a digital New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) before you fly back into New Zealand – replacing the need to fill out a paper declaration card on the plane.

Everyone coming into New Zealand needs to complete an NZTD. You’ll answer questions about your trip and what’s in your bags. You can complete it at a time that suits you, on the NZTD website or by downloading the NZTD app, and submit it 24 hours before your trip back to New Zealand.
